Egg rolls!

Saturday night was stir fry and egg rolls! (home made of course) they were SO easy i have no idea why i waited so long to try to make them!!!

These are really versitle. Once you get the hang of it, you can do any filling! Veggies, chicken, etc! They tasted SO fresh and way less greasy then ordering them! I made 10 with this recipe...

10 Egg roll wrappers (in produce section at your grocery store..i got them at walmart)
1/2 pound bulk pork sausage
2 C brocoli slaw (also at walmart..carrots, brocoli and red cabbage shreds)
1c shredded green cabbage
1-2 TBS teriayki sauce
oil for frying

Crumble and brown sausage. Drain. Add slaw and cabbage to pan. Cook until cabbage is wilted. Add teriakyi sauce and cook 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Meanwhile heat 1 inch of oil in high sided pan until 375* or wooden spoon instered in oil produces bubbles. Wrap eggrolls. (the tecnique i used was to place the filling and then wrap like a burrito. it also shows a way to wrap them on the package) moisten and seal wrapper. Fry in oil approx 1 minute each side until roll is browned. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce (i used sweet and sour)

I am so happy that i tried these! Now i am thinking of all the yummy fillings i can try! Tofu, chicken, veggies, the list is endless.......

i have made it my goal to try at least one new recipe a week. It might not seem like a lot, but this time of year is tough. Hopefully once the holidays are over and things settle a bit i can do like three new ones a week! I have a STACK of recipes that i have been waiting to try! So far, all the new ones have been a sucess! Tomorrow.....easy cheesy beefy enchilada casserole (another new one!) I saw it on the food network last week and OMG my mouth was watering! Hopefuuly it tastes as good as it looks!

Cleaning out the recipe file

This morning I spent some time sorting recipies. I have a ZILLION that i have ripped out of magazines that i have been hoping to try. Today i sorted them and deided on a few to try first. Over the next week i hope to attempt
*ravioi soup
*easy beefy cheesy enchilada casserole
*chicken cordon bleu (the fancy looking one)
*pizza fondue

I am a BIG fan of Taste of Home magazine where you can find a bunch of easy to make recipies. Hopefully i can get to a few and let you know the outcome!

Just the beginning......

Yes, it started on face book. I wanted to find a way to post recipes and ask for ideas from others. Now i have decided to spend some time posting what i make for my family. I dont make every meal every day, but close to it! I have recently started to diet so there might be some nutrition info sprinkled in from time to time. I will try to post recipes and reviews as often as i can.
